Giants' sign second import for 2014 season

The Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants have signed 202cm forward/centre Tommy Hannon as their second import for the 2014 State Basketball League season. This follows the recent signing if the club's first import, guard Duran Blue, earlier this week.

Tommy is 23 years old and has just completed his final year at the University of St Thomas, which is located in St Paul, Minnesota USA. His list of achievements can be summed up by the following quote from his former college Head Coach:

“Tommy Hannon is one of the finest young men I have worked with during my 13 years of coaching and teaching. Tommy finishes his career as one of the most decorated players in the storied history of the University of St. Thomas Men's Basketball program. He was on four MIAC champions, appeared in four NCAA Division III tournaments, played in two Final Fours, and won a National Championship in 2011 (Tommy was named All-Final Four team), and was named All-Conference, All-West Region, Academic All-District, and Honorable Mention All-American. Tommy is one of nine players in the history of St. Thomas to score more than 1,000 points and have 600 rebounds. Besides all the numbers and accolades, Tommy Hannon's passion for the game of basketball, his unselfish team-first attitude, his Dean's List academics, and his leadership on and off the court embody an outstanding student-athlete!”
(University of St Thomas Head Coach John Tauer)

This will be Tommy’s first professional contract, and the club expects him to arrive in Kalgoorlie in early February.
