Buccs overlook Lay

Michael Lay has revealed his disappointment at being overlooked as an import for the Sun City Plumbing Buccaneers.

The Buccs are pursuing other imports for 2013, but have offered Lay a coaching position.

The 28-year-old said he “definitely won’t” be playing in 2013 and is — for now — non-committal on a role alongside head coach Ray Evans.

American Lay must wait until 2014 at the earliest until he can apply for Australian Citizenship.

This means he would be classed as an import player for at least another season in the SBL.
