Week Six PowerPlayers of the Week

Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers Import Michael Lay has claimed his first PowerPlayer of the Week award of the season after guiding his team to two big wins in Perth over the weekend, downing Kalamunda and East Perth over the Easter weekend.

Lay received the honours over Australian Central Eagles Centre Tom Jervis to claim the Week Six $50 voucher to PowerPlay Sports in Osborne Park.

The American starred with 29 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the 78 - 76 away win over the Suns, and then backed it up with 19 points, five rebounds and 10 assists against the Eagles in a 95 – 79 win.

Runner-Up Jervis was equally impressive in his team’s two games, scoring 31 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in a big 100 – 89 win against Perry Lakes, but couldn’t get his side over the line against the Buccaneers, even with another huge game of 25 points and 21 rebounds.

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks Guard Gabby Clayton took out the Women’s award for Week Six after leading her side to a 77 – 67 win over the Australian Central Eagles, which gives the Hawks two straight awards after Tegan Walker took it out in Round Five.

Clayton edged out Lakeside Lightning Centre Heidi McNeill, who led her side to their first win of the season over the lowly Stirling Senators.

Clayton was in great form with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists as her team came away with their fifth win in a row to put them equal-second on the ladder.

McNeill was unlucky to miss out on the award, amassing 26 points and 12 rebounds in the 62 – 48 win over the Senators, which should give her side some confidence heading into next week.
