Teams duel for positions (Women's Preview)

With the women’s State Basketball League finalists confirmed, several sides will be battling for advantageous positions inside the eight in the final round of the regular season.

The biggest battle is the race for the top four, which provides home-court-advantage in the quarter-finals.

Southside Mitsubishi Perth Redbacks are guaranteed to make the top four with Southlands Willetton Tigers guaranteed to finish first and Rockingham Flames almost certain to finish second.

Perry Lakes and East Perth will be battling for the other top four spot, although the Eagles will be nervously waiting on the results of other games with its regular season already finished.

If the Hawks beat Mandurah Magic or Rockingham it will guarantee a top four spot as it owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over East Perth, however it will be underdogs in both games, with Mandurah 9-1 at home this year and Rockingham 15-5 overall.

Perry Lakes will finish third if it wins at least once and Perth loses to Willetton.

Perth must beat Willetton at Belmont Oasis, where it is 8-2 this year, to ensure third spot, and will be high on confidence after knocking off Rockingham last week.

Mandurah has to defeat Perry Lakes at home and ATD Stirling Senators on the road to stay in the top six, with seventh placed Wanneroo to overtake it on head-to-head if the Magic can only win once.

If the Magic win both, Perry Lakes loses twice and the Magic beat the Hawks by more than six, Mandurah will finish fifth and the Hawks will fall to sixth.

Lakeside will look to keep its chances of avoiding eighth spot and a quarter-finals matchup with Willetton alive by beating Carpet Court Southwest Slammers, which will be trying to avoid a winless season.

The Lightning need to win and hope Mandurah loses twice, which would see it climb to seventh and the Magic fall to eighth on head-to-head.

Elsewhere, Rockingham will guarantee second spot on Friday by beating AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns, Willetton will try to warm up for the finals by beating Stirling and Southwest will be looking to pick up its first win by beating Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars, which has won two straight.
