Magic too hot for Suns

THE Kalamunda Eastern Suns were more like a dying star after losing to the Mandurah Magic in both the women’s and men’s teams.

In the women’s, the Magic dominated the Suns with a 75 points to a disappointing 48.

The Magic held a convincing margin through the entirety of the four periods, with only a minor lapse on the final.

Casey Mihovilovich led the Magic to victory, wit 21 points scored during her time on court.

Mihovilovich was most successful in her field goals, converting nine of her 12 shots.

The Magic overall was most devastating from their free throws, with a 57.1 percent success rate from their eight of 14 shots.

The Suns best individual performance came from Carli Boyanich, who even with a 100 percent success rate from her four free throws could only manage 13 points.

In the men’s competition, the Magic put in an outstanding performance with 110 points over the Suns 86 points.

While the Suns started strongly with an almost neck-and-neck fight, the Magic eventually ran away with the ball to take the next three periods.

A final last-ditch effort from the Suns wasn’t enough for the side to be able to make enough of an impact on the competition.

The Magic’s new import Taylor Mullenax showed his skills with a leading 27 points for the side.

Mullenax took 12 of his 19 field goals and 100 percent of his three free throws to take the game home for the Magic.

Mullenax was followed by other star import Casey Crevelone, who scored 20 points and took 50 percent of his eight three-pointers.

Austin Bruton and Justin Brown from the Suns each put in strong individual performances with 28 and 22 points respectively.

But a lack of effort from the rest of the team let the two top-scorers down during their time on court.

The men’s and women’s Magic teams will both take on the Perth Redbacks this Saturday at the Waroona Recreation Centre.

The women’s Redbacks have two games and wins up on the Magic’s, while the men’s Redbacks have a three wins up on the locals.
