Kyle Harvey - Ipswich Force

Leading his team to an emphatic 20-point victory over Toowoomba, and in the process putting on his best performance this season, Kyle Harvey from the Ipswich Force is the men’s Player of the Week for Round 7. Harvey shot 31 points at 72.2% in the field in addition to two blocks, one steal and five rebounds in the Force’s 109-89 win over the Mountaineers. The import came out firing in the first quarter to hit a total of 12 points, helping Ipswich set up a 12-point lead at quarter-time, setting the pace for the rest of the match. The second quarter saw the Force maintain a double-figure lead, answering back to any Toowoomba attempt to get points on the board, with Harvey contributing six points in the period, the home side leading 58-44 at halftime. The Force put their foot down in the third quarter, with Harvey shooting another seven points to help his team extend their lead to 28 points at the final break, and hit another six points in the final term to see Ipswich cruise to the 20-point win. Harvey currently sits on averages of 15 points at 53.9% and 5.9 rebounds per game in his debut season in the QBL.

The forward from Arkansas is emerging as a key component of the Ipswich line-up, with the team eager to improve on a lacklustre 2013 season – their three wins this year equalling their total of wins in 2013. Harvey joined the Force after averaging 17.7 points and 4.7 rebounds over his three games with Team Cantu at the Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas in 2013, where he was also named in the All-Star team. Harvey’s college career at Williams Baptist College saw him average 17.2 points at 50.1% in the field and 6.3 rebounds per game during his four years with the school, and was the top scorer in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes’ American Midwest Conference three years running. He was also named All-AMC Co-Player of the Year in his final year in 2012-13.
