Brisbane Capitals @ U16 State Championships

The U16 Boys and Girls came up with some big upsets and almost snuck their way in to medal contention at the U16 State Championships held at Townsville and Carina over the Easter break.

The U16 Boys Silver managed to qualify for Division 1 and were faced with a mammoth task of competing with the best teams in state most of whom had 12 months on each player, the boys showed a lot of resilience to never give up and keep working all weekend. Whilst they might not have managed to get a W they did earn the respect of every team they played. The U16 Boys Bronze off the back of their BQJBC win had high hopes, until an injury to one of their players meant the team lacked its main scorer, the boys did rally though and were able to secure a close win to end the Champs.

The U16 Boys Gold put themselves right in the mix when they beat favourites Southern Districts Spartans and if it hadnt been for a few more points in a couple of other games the boys would have qualified for the Semi Finals.

The U16 Girls Silver started the Championships quite strong and were sitting towards the top half of the table but couldnt manage to secure a semi final berth and finished the weekend in 8th. The U16 Girls Gold very nearly followed the U16 Boys Gold lead by sneaking into the semi's but it wasnt to be, they did get their chance at revenge against Logan and almost snatched 5th spot if it hadnt been for a last minute play that saw Logan take the game to Overtime in a thriller.
