Meteors Retain Rasmussen

Mackay Basketball is pleased to announce that local Bradley Rasmussen is the first player to sign with the McDonald's Meteors for QBL season 2013.
The two-time QBL championship player will line up for his seventh consecutive season with the McDonald's Meteors in 2013.  Rasmussen has played 112 QBL games for the McDonald's Meteors and has career averages of 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
Rasmussen was proud to be the club’s first signing and said he is excited at the challenge of a '3-peat'.
"No men's team has ever won three consecutive QBL championships so I am definitely motivated for next season," Rasmussen said.
"It's going to be a huge challenge for our team but I think it's achievable," he said.
McDonald's Meteors head coach Joel Khalu said retaining Rasmussen was "vital".
"Rassy (Rasmussen) is extremely versatile and has the ability to play a variety of positions and that is what makes him such a valuable player in this league," he said.
"Being one of the older guys in our group I'll definitely be looking for him to step up into more of a leadership role next year."
More QBL player signing announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
