Mustangs in Schools - Kellie Fox Report

“The past two Wednesday’s St Josephs, East Maitland have been involved in learning new skills in basketball. The first week, we focused on ball handling and shooting, as well as introducing the rules of the game to many of the students that have never played before. During the session the students played sideline basketball and dribble knockout, which the children always seem to enjoy. We had very positive feedback from the teachers from the school after the first session. The Second session the students were very attentive and excited to learn more about the game and put their new skills into practice, as well has having another game of sideline basketball. We mainly taught the skill of the correct lay up technique which takes some time to teach and to perfect as well as incorporating lay ups into a competition for the children to participate in as we know they are a competitive bunch always trying their best. The first two sessions have been a great success with all students getting involved and hope further sessions are as successful.”
