Match Report Division 3 – Tarrawanna vs Oak Flats Women - 24 July

A break in wet and windy weather enabled a great morning for football at Tarrawanna between Division 3 third placed Tarrawanna against 7th placed Oak Flats Women.

Tarrawanna had the benefit of a very early goal and really didn’t look back from there. The Oak Flats Women spent a lot of time in their own half and were relying on quick breaks and counter attacks compared to Tarra who were more composed with a better passing game. The half time score of 3-0 to Tarrawanna could have been much higher if not for the Flats solid back line defence and good work by their keeper.

The second half continued along the same lines as the first with the Flats girls mostly camped in their own half. Down on the score board and with their attacking forays frustratingly denied by the off side flag, the Flats girls refused to give up and were finally rewarded with a goal and a number of one on one chances against the Tarra keeper that could have added to their score. It was not to be and the score blew out to Tarawanna 8 ( Fensom 3, Gjakovski 1, Herbert 1, Layland 2, McKean 10 to Oak Flats Women 1 (Treglia).

The Tarra coach was obviously delighted with the result while the Oak Flats coach was philosophical knowing that his team is capable of playing much better even though they were off their game in this match.
