FSC 2018 CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS PREVIEW

This Sunday sees the climax of the 50th Football NSW Champion of Champions tournament with 19 Grand Finals taking place at Valentine Sports Park. Football South Coast will be represented by four teams in Albion Park (All Age Women), Russell Vale (Over 30 Women), Shellharbour (Under 14 Girls) and Lake Heights (Under 13 Boys) with only the Northern Suburbs FA having more representatives on the day.

Lake Heights are the first local team in action with their match against Arncliffe Aurora (St George FA) kicking off at 8.30 am on Field 2. Lake Heights were a force to be reckoned with at the local level with their only defeat in the Illawarra all season coming on Grand Final day. The side has had to battle their way through to Sunday's decider with three wins by the solitary goal including a come from behind 2-1 victory over Kemps Creek United (Southern District SFA) in the semi-final.

The next local team to take to the park is Shellharbour who face Lowland Wanderers (Nepean FA) at 9.45 am on Field 1. Shellharbour are unbeaten this season having won 26 of 27 matches to date - a feat made even more impressive by that fact they were competing in an under 15s competition. A win on Sunday would see the Shellharbour claim the quadruple and it won't be the first time they have faced the Wanderers after beating them 3-1 in the State Cup decider.

Russell Vale's match against Wakehurst (Manly Warringah FA) gets underway at 2.30 pm on Field 3. The Vale competed in the All Age Women's Division 1 in 2018 where they just missed out on the top four despite a handful of noteworthy results. The run to the Grand Final has seen Russell Vale knock off Glenhaven (Hills Football) before back-to-back 7-0 wins over Parklea (Blacktown Association) and then the Flying Bats (North West Sydney).

The Final match involving an FSC side coincides with the Russell Vale match with Albion Park taking on rivals Dunbar Rovers (Eastern Suburbs FA) on Field 1. Albion Park have won their last 59 matches in a run which has seen them claim eight pieces of silverware - one more win will also see them claim back-to-back perfect seasons. Park have developed a considerable rivalry with Dunbar having played the Eastern Suburbs club four times since 2014 with Park winning each match by a single goal including a 2-1 result in this year's State Cup quarter-final.

Congratulations to all four sides competing on Sunday and good luck.
