Ward re-elected as President

David Ward will lead the AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors for the 2013 season after being re-elected to the President’s role at the league’s Annual General Meeting on Monday November 5.

Joining David on the 2013 Management Committee will be Kent Weightman, who is now entering his eighth year of service on the committee, which is a fantastic effort given that he has had no children playing in the competition for many years now.

Rounding out the six-person committee is Ingrid Goff, Lionel Lee, Gary Vincent and Rod Fazackerley.

The 2013 committee has a wide spread of members from clubs across the coast, with each member bringing valued knowledge that will assist with the advancement of the league and we thank them for again putting their hand up to service the league in this volunteer role.

Stepping out of her league Management Committee role, Debbie Linton has taken over the reigns from Paul Meehan as President of the Kawana Park Eagles.

We thank Deb for her involvement over the past two years and wish her all the best in leading the Eagles.

Ideally the AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors would like to operate with a seven person committee and discussions are currently being undertaken to put this in place.

The league’s Management Committee would welcome any club nominations to this role for them to explore as a suitable candidate.

Possessing a broad-ranging strategic outlook towards AFL development and competition management is a key ingredient to taking a seat on this most important over-arching body of junior football on the Sunshine Coast.

The 2012 AFL Sunshine Coast Annual Report was presented to those in attendance at the AGM which included the President’s report from David Ward, a look at the ‘season that was’ from AFL Sunshine Coast Club Development Officer Paul Tresise and Club Coordinators Stacey French, Chris Hunt and Paul Menti.

A report from AFL Queensland Development Manager Mark Kennedy, with contributions from Development Officers Rohan Briggs and Dayne Frew was also included, highlighting the successes of game development in the region in 2012.

The AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors league’s Management Committee look forward to hosting its annual conference on Sunday November 25.

Each club is represented by two voting delegates with whom the Management Committee look to formulate operational need for the upcoming 2013 season.
