VJBL Grading Ready to Kick Off
The VJBL season for 2012/13 is finally upon us - teams and coaches are finalised, and 12 of our 43 teams played a pre-grading game on Friday night. Next Friday things kick off in earnest, with all our Junior Championship teams beginning their new season campaign with grading phase 1.
Just before the season is up and running, here are a few more things for everyone to keep in mind ...
Most of the coaches attended a coaches lunch last Sunday and the discussions centred around ensuring we provide a consistent program across all ages and all teams so that every-one knows Bulleen core offence and defences and Tom and Lori will be charged with ensuring this is achieved as quickly as possible.
We are putting together the coach development program right now and are trying to confirm a few guests to assist with the coaches continued development and we will keep you posted as people and dates are confirmed. By improving our coaching department we are ensuring our players are getting access to the best coaches and program in the state.
Registration Day is Sunday 2nd December at Sheahans Road please make sure you come down on the day or you can arrange your first payment on-line now (click on the Register menu above).
On the 24th and 25th of November we have 32 teams playing in the Southern Peninsula tournament which is a lot of driving but a lot of fun and a great opportunity for the teams to get some playing time under their belts and a great time for parents to get to know each other. Good luck and I hope the weather is kind. A number of our Bulleen referees will also be involved in reffing at the tournament.
It is timely to remind all parents that they are not to talk to the coach after a game about concerns they have. It is best to arrange via the Team Manager for a time to meet with the coach and team manager and then discuss the concern. If the matter cannot be resolved to every-one’s satisfaction then you need to contact the Convenor of the Program, Glenn Thornton, and he will investigate the issue further and/or escalate it if necessary.
Please support your children, the team and the coach with positive encouragement and comments. Do not criticise any-one either at the game or afterward to other parents, especially in front of any kids. Try to keep your opinion to yourself but if you do want to speak to some-one then please contact the team manager to arrange a meeting with the coach or Glenn Thornton.
The players are only kids who are doing the best they can, the coaches are volunteers and the referees are essential to the games occurring. We can't afford to be without any one of these three elements.
If you ever have any questions for the Junior Championship Committee the best email address to use is firstname.lastname@example.org
Good luck to all teams for grading over the next few weeks and GO BOOMERS !
