Primary school visits
The development of basketball in primary schools remains a high priority to SA Country Basketball. Our school programs are designed to engage students in physical activity and develop fundamental skills. It is through such programs students develop positive physical, social and behavioural skills, which have a positive impact on academic achievement.
The purpose of these clinics is to introduce students from grades 3-7 to the game of basketball in their local area. This is also an opportunity to develop relationships with the local association, their facility and schools within their region, so that we can integrate students into our association’s basketball programs. With a broad range of skills being taught – e.g. ball handling, dribbling, shooting, footwork, passing and rebounding, players will develop and improve their individual offensive/defensive skills, coordination and fitness in a fun yet disciplined environment.
These clinics are free of charge to a school local to any of our affiliated Associations. The only cost for students (or the school) would be transporting (buses) the children to and from school to the local stadium, if required.
SA Country Basketball will provide 15-20 basketballs for use at the clinics. The local association or school will be required to make extra basketballs available if required.
