Commitment To Train

2018 SA Country trials and trainings are fast approaching and therefore the importance of commitment to team and commitment to trainings needs to be recognised. Over the past 12 months there have been opportunities created through these ideals. Whilst we understand the travel and financial commitments can have an effect on our ability to train the benefits of commitment can drive you closer to future success.

Within our U18’s Girls program Jordyn Adams (Mt Gambier) was called up as a last minute replacement to participate in the Australian Junior Championships and within our U16’s program Bailey Beattie (Broken Hill) was also called in late as a replacement player in the Australian Junior Championships.

Bailey Beattie travelled as a squad member to 5 trainings before being promoted at the last minute into the 10 athletes who would compete in the U16 Australian Junior Championships. Bailey and his family were required to travel upwards of 6 hours to training or make flight arrangements. Bailey’s commitment to training whilst being a training partner made him one of the obvious choices for Coach Ben MacCulloch to fill the void in the team. Bailey had not only progressed his basketball skills but also understood the requirements of the team. Having attended training’s he also understood the plays and setup’s which Ben and his team of coaches were trying to achieve.

Bailey finished the championships with the following stats and a wealth of experience leading into 2018 calendar year. We hope that he continues his growth and development and look forward to watching his progression in the future.

Player Name REBOUNDS ASSITS STEALS PTS
Bailey Beattie 2.88 0.38 1 7.25

As always we appreciate and encourage athletes to attend trainings when possible regardless of their position within the team. We understand the time, financial and family constraints training provides but as both Jordyn and Bailey can attest to the trainings and personal development can lead to achieving goals!
