Year 3/4 Information

As we head towards the end of the season the ABA would like to help our players with the transition into the coming season of year 3/4 competition and enrolment for the 2018-19 season.

TEAMS –

As the ABA does not have an active club system, we do not make up teams. Players that are interested in playing are encouraged to source out a team through their school friends or peer groups. If a new team is formed through a peer group, then that team will need to find a manager and a coach prior to registration night to submit their details on registration night. Teams must have a minimum of 7 players.

If your child cannot find a team, the ABA has a Facebook page called “ABA wanted”. This page is set up to assist players who either need a player or it can assist a player finding a team that may be looking for players.

FEES-

The cost for the 2018/19 season is $120 for juniors (this cost covers insurances and referees). There is also a team cost (which is divided between all team members). In the 2018/19 season this cost is $450 a team which is based on a 15-week playing season.

KIDSPORT-
Kidsport vouchers are available to parents (and children) who have a Health Care Card. The Kidsport vouchers now only cover the cost of your individual playing fee ($115) not the team court fee($450). If you are eligible for the Kidsport, this voucher needs to be picked up from the front counter of the ALAC. It then needs to be signed off and validated by the ALAC Kidsport representative, where an amount will be allocated to you and a validation code is given (via email). This needs to be presented to ABA committee by your manager at registration.

REGISTRATION NIGHT-

Registration dates are Wednesday the 12th and Thursday the 13th of September from 5.30-7.30pm at the ALAC

The manager of each team should have had all players register themselves online in the team prior to registration night (there will be a “How to “page on the ABA website to assist all with managers with this).

Managers need to attend registration night with all players having been registered previously and having all money and Kidsport vouchers codes with them. An EFTPOS machine is available if required. Unless all monies are paid on registration night, the team will not be registered.

UNIFORMS –

Before the season starts, managers must email the abauniforms@gmail.com with their teams proposed team colours (generally have a few ideas of colours in case of colour clashes with other teams). Approval will be emailed back by the ABA uniforms co-ordinator before the uniforms may be purchased. This needs to be done generally about 6-8 weeks prior to the season starting (as the turn around to get uniforms generally takes this long).

Local uniform companies are- Barefoot Clothing on Lockyer Avenue, Albany Screen Print on Minna Road.

Online uniform order suggestions are- Madcore, Slamstyle, Dunk, Subprint and many more.

Sometimes it is a good idea to ask around as players grow out of uniforms and they may be able to hand them down.

GAME DAY-

The playing days are not completely confirmed until all teams are registered and fixtured days are sorted. However we expect the Year 3 and 4 Competition to happen on Saturdays

SEASON-

ABA runs it’s local competition in Term 4 and Term 1 of the year. The ABA hold their AGM in June /July every year where all members are welcome.
