Roller Take Bronze
Today was the final day of competition. We played in the 3rd and 4th playoff against Great Britain while Canada and USA played off for 1st and 2nd place.
It was a tough game and we were down most of the time and at one stage in the 3rd quarter we were down by as much as 15 points but with persistence and great defence (eight defensive stops in a row) we got the scores back level at the end of the 3rd quarter.
We came out of the break with two defensive stops and two offensive scores to go four points up. The rest of the game was hard fought with both teams giving it their all. Our composure and ruthless defence kept us on top and we ran out eventual three-point winners.
USA beat Canada in an entertaining final by six points.
Don’t forget sport fans that this Saturday (June 28) at Shellharbour stadium you can see the Wollongong High Lube Roller Hawks do battle with the Brisbane spinning bullets at 5pm and Sunday at 12pm.
