History of The Venus Shield

Extract from the Annual Meeting Of The Wellington Football Association March 26th 1896

It was announced that Messes W.& G. Turnbull & Co. representing Cameron Brothers of the New Venus & Queens Tobacco fame, had presented the Association with a trophy for senior competition.

The trophy is still played for today, as the "Venus Shield"
