Young Venom Head To Traralgon

Arguably the youngest ever Warrandyte Venom women's team will head to Traralgon on Saturday night for round six of the Big V season. With a run of injuries, Venom's average age against Latrobe City Energy will be 18.6yrs. It's a predicament that coach Justin Nelson says supporters should be excited about.

"Injuries bring about opportunities and with so many younger players stepping into the senior squad this season it's an exciting position we find ourselves in," says Nelson.

"We will be missing some of our more experienced players again this week, as we were last week, but it means we get to advance the learning of our younger players and I know that's something all of our supporters are keen to see.

"Last weekend we saw some really good signs from the likes of Casey Taylor (pictured) and Mollie Burke, both of whom are only 15 years old, so it's a big step and they are coping very well," added Nelson.

"It's also good to see Meg Dargan and the Sabidussi sisters coming along, plus I think we'll get to see young talls Ash Brobbel and Mollie Booth on court together for the first time at senior level."

The Venom plays Latrobe City this Saturday night (May 2), before heading home to play Werribee and Hawthorn in round seven.
