McKinnon Cougars Win 2013 Cougar Cup
Saturday night saw three of our McKinnon Cougar teams battle it out against the Keysborough Cougars in the annual Cougar Cup at The Cougar Den (now that’s a lot of Cougars!). The McKinnon Cougars came out on top, winning all three of their games and retaining the Cup for the second year in a row.
The U18-1 boys started the night off with an impressive 78-point win over Keysborough (102-24). McKinnon’s top scorer was Max Cody with a massive 23 points, whilst Geer, Quinn and Macdonald ended the game each with 14 points.
The Youth League men followed, taking on Keysborough’s newest senior team, the YL2M Cougars. The contest remained even throughout the game, however McKinnon were able to get over the line with a 5-point win (43-38). Michael Osekowski ended as leading scorer with 8 points, followed by Ben Rissman with 7 and Tom Sapountsis with 6.
The McKinnon D1M Cougars took on a talented and improved Keysborough D2M’s team, winning by 22 points (67-45). A return of some of 2012’s D1M favourites, including Timmons, Chambers, Allen and Mueller, were joined by several new faces as well as three of McKinnon’s development players. Jarrod O’Shannessy ended the game with 14 points, whilst Timmons, Harrison and Kostur all finished with 12 points.
Well done to all Cougars involved and thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a great success!
