Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) is the national sport organisation that leads and administers
basketball in New Zealand. BBNZ provides a range of basketball programmes and services for
players, coaches, referees and associations. Basketball is an exciting global sport with a large and
growing number of participants in New Zealand.

Position and Role Summary

We are seeking a General Manager High Performance (GMHP).

The position will be responsible for leading Basketball New Zealand’s High Performance Strategy.
This includes achieving alignment and commitment to implementation of the strategy across
coaches, athletes and staff who form part of the basketball talent development pathways.

Responsibilities include leading all high performance programmes (both genders and both
formats - 5x5 and 3x3) from the National Talent Programme (NTP) through all national age
group levels up to Tall Ferns and Tall Blacks (and 3x3 equivalents). This is a non-coaching role
that is designed to support team, coach and athlete performance and results alongside national
coaching and team staff to achieve BBNZ’s vision of success.

To be successful in these roles you need to have:

 Dynamic leadership qualities with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships
 Experience in national and international high performance sport programmes
 Experience in developing and implementing successful high performance programmes,
teams and culture
 Thorough knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand high performance and broader
sporting system
 Experience in planning, budgeting, change management and effective communications skills
 Tertiary level qualifications
 A flexible, positive attitude to operate in a dynamic work environment
