The newly formed Beaudesert Brumbies Junior Australian Football club has successfully started the 2008 season with games at home, and away, over recent weeks. The under 8 team will be the starting point for the club in a region of South East Qld normally associated with rugby league. The support from families in the area has been very encouraging and supports the decision to start a club in Beaudesert.
The Brisbane Lions and AFL Queensland have played a vital role in the establishment of Brisbaneâs newest club, providing valuable financial support and resources. In particular the promotional day held on the 17th of April was a great succuss with many children participating in the clinic run by AFL Queensland staff and Lions player Matthew Moody. The highlight could possibly have been the appearance of mascot Bernie âGabbaâ Vegas!
The clubs brand new jerseyâs have just been unveiled and recognise the great support that has been provided by the Beaudesert State School, AFL Brisbane Juniors, the Brisbane Lions and local sponsor Bromelton Quarry. All logos are prominently displayed and worn with pride by all the children who grasp the opportunity to play with the Beaudesert Brumbies in the coming years.
Anyone wishing to join the club should contact club registrar Ann Broom on 0413 202 607.
