Men's Reviews - Round 2

Woodville Warriors 103 (C. Wilson 20, G. Birmingham 18, L. Mapunda 13)
Eastern Mavericks 78 (S. Breheny 22, J. Watson 20, P. Modra 14)

After losing to the Tigers at Morphett Vale, Woodville were hoping to christen the Dome with a win. Eastern kept with the Warriors until quarter time, but were outscored 56-31 in the second and third quarters. Cam Wilson was the star of this game, finishing with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. For Eastern, Shane Breheny had 13 rebounds and Brad Bungey had 9.

Sturt Sabres 93 (M. Ng 23, J. Dodman 22, D. Ng 19)
West Adelaide Bearcats 86 (A. Spadavecchia 22, D. Phillips 17, B. Truslove 17)

Blake Truslove returned from New Zealand to suit for the Bearcats, adding to the already strong line up that defeated North last week. However, it was Sturt who had the early break, leading by 12 at quarter time. West clawed back and regained the lead by three quarter time, but some clutch plays by Darren Ng in the final minutes secured the victory for the Sabres. Jordan Dodman had the first of two impressive games for the weekend, shooting 9 of 11 from the floor and picking up 10 rebounds. Darren Ng's effort at the point guard position netted 12 assists, while Marcus Ng top scored with 23. For West, round 1 player of the week Anthony Spadavecchia had another strong game offensively.

North Adelaide Rockets 91 (E. Burdon 23, D. Rychart 22, T. Rowe 11)
Southern Tigers 87 (B. Hodges 25, D. Lalic 18, B. Gerlach 17)

NBL championship winner Dusty Rychart and Ryan Kersten made their debuts in this game, but the Rockets struggled to contain Daniel Lalic and Ben Hodges for most of this game, Hodges' points coming at 75%, and Lalic's at 61%. The lead changed hands many times through the game, and it took some good shooting from Erik Burdon and a big defensive stop from Leif Burdon to seal the victory in the last minute. Nick Hambour and Rychart both had 15 rebounds, while for Southern, Brad Gerlach had 12.

Norwood Flames 106 (D. Thompson 18, A. Webber 17, D. Cooper 17)
Central Districts Lions 74 (J. Graves 16, M. Egel 13, J. Clayton 11)

Norwood has dominated each of its games so far and this was no exception. Up 6 at quarter time, the Flames produced a 33-17 second quarter, then extended its lead in each of the third and fourth quarters too. Norwood shared the scoring load with 5 players in double figures for points and Todd Matthews had 11 assists. For Centrals, Justin Clayton had 11 rebounds.

South Adelaide Panthers 106 (L. Smith 29, M. Fuller 20, T. McKenzie 17)
Forestville Eagles 97 (K. Oakley 20, B. Sullivan 18, M. Sutton 14)

Forestville were fresh from a first-up win over Eastern, while South were still stinging from last week's loss to Centrals. The Panthers jumped the Eagles with a 32 point first quarter, but Forestville matched it in the second to regain a 1 point lead at half time. This margin remained at 3/4 time, until South exploded in the fourth, on the back of a 12 point quarter from Lucas Smith. Smith was the top scorer for the round with 29, while Kane Oakley had 10 rebounds and 5 assists for Forestville.
