Norwood Men keep Bearcats at Bay

It was always going to be a big ask for West Adelaide to beat the Flames, and the final score proved just that, as Norwood stormed home with a punishing 87-69 victory.

A flashy first quarter for the Bearcats gave them an early five point lead near quarter time, however it only got tougher from there.

Norwood pushed on and made life difficult for the West players, showcasing their swift ball movement and tough defensive pressure.

The Flames led by four points at half time, and only three at the end of the third. But a 30-15 final quarter forced a convincing result, as West couldn’t hold on in the last ten minutes.

Norwood’s Jacob Holmes put together a brilliant double-double performance, finishing with 24 points, 14 boards and six assists.

Both Andrew and Daniel Webber notched up 18 points each for the Flames, while Kurtis Phillips top scored for West Adelaide with a double-double of his own, scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Norwood have all but secured their position at the top of the men’s table heading into the last round, while West Adelaide will look to finish strong next week against Forestville before heading into the finals.
