Eagles Men Swoop on Win Over Lions
Forestville Eagles (89) defeated Central District Lions (74)
The Forestville Eagles have collected a 15 point win over the Central District Lions at Wayville on Saturday night.
Both teams started the game well, with just a one point difference at quarter time, in the Eagles’ favour. The second quarter was similar, with the Lions stealing back the lead on occasions, but the Eagles managed to extend their lead to 4 points at half time.
Forestville came out after half time and didn’t give the Lions a chance to take back the lead, finishing the game as 15 point winners.
The difference in turnovers was where the game was lost for the Lions. The Lions had 24 turnovers to the Eagles’ 9. Forestville also had 16 steals compared to just 3 for the Lions. Central Districts recorded 5 more rebounds than the Eagles, 45 to 40, but 32 of those rebounds were defensive. The Eagles had a more even spread, 24 defensive to 16 offensive.
Trent Fildes was impressive for the Eagles with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Jake Rios also played very well for Forestville, scoring 19 points. Kean Flowers wasn’t far behind with 18 points from almost total game time. Brad Gerlach was also important with a game high 11 rebounds, to go with 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.
For the Lions, Jordan Centernera scored 19 points, while Christopher Clausen scored 16 and collected 10 rebounds. Daniel Carlin recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Paul Joyce also had 9 rebounds.
