Central Districts Lions (41) lost to South Adelaide Panthers (92)
South Adelaide's Janae Howard put in a superb performance to lead her team to a 92-41 victory over win-less Central Districts.
Howard scored 34 points, pulled down 19 rebounds (eight offensive boards), dished out 6 assists and blocked 2 shots keeping South perfect on the road at 5-0.
The Panthers jumped on the Lions early, outscoring their opponents 28-9 in the first quarter as they picked apart Centrals' zone defence to get easy baskets in the paint.
South was in control around the rim on both ends of the floor. They scored 48 points in the paint and crashed the glass for 32 offensive rebounds in their 67 total. South's extra effort led to 23 second chance points.
The second quarter for the Lions was much better as they forced a number of turnovers and forced the Panthers deep into the 24-second shot clock while also converting their defensive stops into points on the offensive end.
However the game was firmly in South Adelaide's hands as their ball movement (26 assists to the Lions' 9) was too much for Centrals to handle.
Along with Howard, South received double-double contributions from Ashleigh Spencer (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Jessica Mahony (12 points, 11 rebounds). Teresa Kinross also added 12 points for the Panthers in the blowout win.
