Eagles Women Win In Another Tight Encounter

Forestville Eagles (62) defeated West Adelaide Bearcats (57)

The Forestville women have won another tight battle, beating the West Adelaide Bearcats by just five points at Wayville on Saturday night.

West Adelaide were in front from the start but Forestville had plenty of missed scoring opportunities in the first quarter that could have put them in the lead.

The Bearcats continued to control the game during the second and third quarters.

They were able to push their lead out to ten points but the Eagles were only down by four points at three quarter time.

The Eagles dominated the scoring in the last quarter, out scoring West Adelaide by nine points.

The final quarter was very close, with the scores level with just 36 seconds remaining, but a free throw opportunity to Megan Kermond gave the Eagles the lead.

The close win for the Eagles came after they defeated Woodville by just two points last round.

Tara Robinson was one of the best for the Eagles, especially during the first quarter.

She finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Young Eagle Samantha Defrancesco was the highest points scorer of the game; she scored 20 points from her 23 minutes of game time.

Teammate Megan Kermond was another stand out player, scoring four points, along with five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Sky Langenbrinck was the Bearcats’ highest scorer with 15 points; she also had five rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Kate Shierlaw was not far behind with 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Next round the Eagles face the Sturt Sabres in an away game and they will no doubt want to keep up their winning momentum.

The West Adelaide Bearcats will host a clash with the Woodville Warriors at Port Adelaide next Saturday night.
