Womens Previews Round 15

North Adelaide Rockets v Eastern Mavericks
North Adelaide (6-8, 8th) will continue its pursuit of a return to finals action when it hosts Eastern (0-14, 10th) on Saturday.
The Rockets are one of three teams on six wins, while fifth-place Southern has won seven.
North was terribly unlucky not to become the first side to beat the Flames in 2011, losing in overtime 78-86.
The Rockets could only manage four points in the extra session to Norwood’s 12, scoring just one field goal and turning the ball over five times.
Jo Hill (28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals), Rebecca Lock (19 points) and Tania Dhu (13 rebounds, 5 assists) were North’s best players on the night.
The Mavericks have been on a streak of one competitive performance followed by a non-competitive one.
Eastern played well on Saturday and was within two points after 30 minutes, before a 12-22 fourth period confined it to a 14th consecutive loss.
Tracey Beatty worked hard for 21 rebounds, 9 points, 6 assists and 4 blocks, while Madison Bycroft had a team-high 14 points and Candice Hartman had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
The last time they met, the Mavs kept close for three quarters, before falling away in the fourth to lose 50-78.
The Rockets have lost six straight at home, but they should finally pick up home win number two here.

South Adelaide Panthers v West Adelaide Bearcats
South (6-8, 7th) will be playing for a sixth win in seven matches when it faces West Adelaide (10-4, 3rd)at Marion.
The Panthers’ unprecedented run has given them a realistic shot of making the finals.
In Round 14, South smashed fifth-placed Southern 85-64.
Sarah Peddle had one of the solo performances of the season, falling just short of a quadruple double, finishing with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 8 steals and 2 blocks.
Elizabeth Keane (26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists), Claire Johnson (21 points, 7 rebounds) and Simone Nelson (6 points, 11 rebounds) were also very good.
The Bearcats burst out of the blocks against the Warriors last week, finishing off their opponents before the game had really begun.
Nikita-Lee Martin (16 points, 19 rebounds, 7 assists) and Kerrin Webber (19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) were both phenomenal, while Alana Nairn and Amy Porter each scored 12 points.
The last time they met, the ’Cats were too strong, getting up 67-50, but their opponents are now a much stronger side.
Over the last six games, each West loss has been followed by a victory and vice-versa, so if that trend continues, South will be triumphant.
This is a tough one to call, but the Panthers will be desperate from the tip, and may just snare the points.

Forestville Eagles v Norwood Flames
The Eagles (8-6, 4th) will be aiming to keep their slim hopes of a double chance alive when they play host to the Flames (13-0, 1st) at Wayville in Saturday’s Match of the Round.
Forestville is two games behind West and is -21 in the series split.
Last Saturday, the Eagles blew a golden opportunity to improve their record.
With Tess Madgen absent, Forestville won three of the four quarters, but still lost; a 13-27 second period proving fatal.
Carla Borrego had 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Monica Bello had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Georgia Minear scored 11 points.
Norwood was given a massive scare by North Adelaide, before getting up in overtime.
Jess Foley was sensational with 25 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.
Kelsey Ireland had 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Rachel Herrick and Stephanie Talbot each added 14 points.
Nadeen Payne registered a season-low 6 points, with foul-trouble limiting her impact.
Last time they met, the Eagles had no Borrego or Bello and were sent crashing to a 51-68 defeat.
Norwood has played in just two games decided by single figures this year, so if this one goes down to the wire, Forestville will have an edge in experience.
I will tip the Eagles to just get up, but would not be surprised if the Flames make it 14 from 14.

Southern Tigers v Central District Lions
Centrals (6-7, 6th) will be hoping to shake up the top five when they visit the Tigers (7-7, 5th) on Sunday.
The Lions can jump above their opponents if they can prevail.
A Southern win, on the other hand, would go a long way to wrapping up a finals birth.
Last week, the Tigers did not play like a team wanting to still be alive in mid-August, copping a comprehensive beating from the Panthers.
Southern had more turnovers (30) than made field goals (25).
Ashleigh Spencer was the one bright spot with 31 points and 15 rebounds.
Rosalie Cutri and Madeline Cunningham scored 21 between them.
Centrals pulled out a hard-fought victory over the Mavs last Saturday.
Jess Mahony was the match-winner, completing her third triple-double of the season with 18 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists. She also added 5 steals.
Fiona Perso also played well, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Kimberley Olsen had 15 points.
The last time they met, the Lions got up comfortably for a 74-59 victory.
Another difficult game to predict, but home court advantage may be enough to get Southern over the line. Still, do not be surprised if Centrals’ long trip south is a successful one.
