Have no fear is the word from Fiji Table Tennis National Coach Mohammed Gharib after the first day of the National Training Camp at the Vodafone Arena, Suva, Fiji.
Fiji along with 60 plus athletes from 40 countries representing 8 continents will be undergoing a two and a half day National Training Camp before the start of the ITTF 2017 World Cadet Challenge.
The Training Camp will see each team face off against each other in a round robin format and to familirise themselves with the surroundings.
Mr Gharib was visibly emotional after his Fiji players played a tough round against the Hopes Team.
The Hopes Team is made up of the world's best Under 12 players that were chosen earlier this year after the Hopes Challenge tournament held in Luxembourg.
"My best players have been taken up by the Oceania Team and others are currently doing exams," Mr Gharib said.
"But I am telling my players to have no fear and not to be scared."
The Egyptian born coach said despite the inexperience of his players he is confident that they will put up a good show during competition.
"I would like to thank Dejan Papic who is the Hopes Coach for his help with Team Fiji," he said.
"Unlike this morning, the Hopes Team took our Fiji team seriously and were also giving some useful tips to my players."
Mr Gharib said while it would be a tough learning curve for his players, it was the future he was aiming for.
