Sheldrick wins State Junior Coach of the Year

Back to back local champion Jeremy Sheldrick has won a prestigious award, taking out the 2012 Queensland Junior Coach of the Year award ahead of 7 other regional finalists.

Sheldrick won the award for his outstanding communication to his players and commitment to coaching kids at the crucial introductory stages of our game.

Sheldrick was invited to the State Volunteers dinner last Saturday night, intially thinking it was a miscommunication intended for the Stingers club President Neville Jericho, a finalist himself in the Club Volunteer of the Year award.

Upon learning that it was his invitation and he was in select company he had an inkling something was up, however was still amazed to have won the award.

"It's fantastic, but I really just want to see the kids have fun", Sheldrick humbly mentioned during his acceptance speech.

It is fantastic recognition for one of our hardest working coaches, who also sits on the Stingers commitee as Vice President and frequently shows up at local NAB Auskick centres nearby to Rockville Oval.

Sheldrick is earmarking a move into the competitive Under 12 division next year where he will be introduced into teaching tackling as well as the competing demands of playing for fun and playing to win at the same time.
