Gold Coast SUNS Academy take the chocolates.

The Gold Coast SUNS Academy were victorious tonight with a win over the Lions in the Townsville Cadbury AFL 9's competition. The competition ran over 9 weeks with many people trying out the new game and enjoying it. Many thanks to the teams, umpires, jumper washers, Kath, Adam & Crew from AFL Q and Col Brierley from ALPHA First Aid supplies.more

THURINGOWA V TOWNSVILLE SCHOOL GAMES

There will be added excitement around Tony Ireland Stadium next week (27TH) because as well as the much anticipated finals week, there will also be two ALL-STARS primary school games. These games are played between the best players from the Thuringowa schools against the best from the Townsville schools in both the girls (5:30pm) and boys (6:30pm).more

Volunteer Grants 2013 - Successful organisations.

The Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, and the Minister for Community Services, the Hon Julie Collins MP, announced that more than 170,000 volunteers over 4,600 organisations throughout Australia will benefit from funding of $16 million under Volunteer Grants 2013. Annandale State School boys and girls teams

Congratulations to the Annandale State School boys and girls teams on taking out the Townsville primary schools AFL premierships. St Anthony's were winners in the Thuringowa competition.more

MASTERS WRAP UP FROM CARDWELL

What a great day and congratulation’s to the Cairns guys. Good numbers, played in the right spirit and very close games. The Cairns boys took out the over 45’s and the Townsville guys the over 35’s. We then had to add both sides score for both games and by a whisker the first Chapman Family Cardwell Cup went to the boys from the North.more

The AFL Queensland Level 2 Coaching Course will be held on the Gold Coast on the weekend of November 16 and 17.

McDonald Gets Second Best And Fairest

Curra Swans playing coach Adam McDonald has taken out his second club Best & Fairest award at the RMS Curra Swans Football Netball Club awards night on Saturday.

Effectively it was his second consecutive trophy as McDonald won the award in 2011 before transferring to the Belconnen Magpies in 2012. A welcome return home for 2013 saw McDonald take up the Senior coaching role.more

Saturday night saw the AFL Townsville Umpires Association annual presentation night held at the Townsville RSL. It was a night of glitz and glamour with the Ladies looking glamorous and the blokes scrubbed up pretty well also.more

No NQ team for NEAFL in 2014

AFL Queensland today advised that a North Queensland team will not be introduced into the restructured North East Football League (NEAFL) for season 2014.

CEO Michael Conlan said that while the organisation supported the concept of a North Queensland side, the timing was not right.more

Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program

Registrations are now open for the Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program being held at Ignatius Park College on Monday 21 October 2013.
The GAQAP provides teachers, school sport volunteers, tertiary and senior secondary school students throughout Queensland with FREE training that can ultimately lead to recognised accreditation in coaching, officiating and sports first aid.more

Last Thursday 15 lucky Kirwan State School students embarked on a fantastic journey and great experience which saw them travel to Palm Island. The 15 boys travelled via plane, thanks to West Wing Aviation, to play a combined Palm Island team in a game of AFL.more
