Big V Wrap Round 17
Round 17 was an unsuccessful week for our Eagles with no registered wins across all teams. Our VYCM were extremely unlucky to not advance in the finals falling just short against the heavily favoured Melbourne Tigers.
Our SCM gave a great effort against a competitive Ringwood, losing 92 – 80. The usual suspects were prolific with Brandon Conley finishing with 22 points and 8 rebounds, Matt Reynolds also shot well with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Ringwood’s effort on rebounding was the difference with 56 rebounds for the game making it extremely hard for our men to get second chance opportunities. This week our SCM will be playing their last game of the season against Hume City and will be looking to finish the year with a win.
Our SCW had a tough game against a relentless Bulleen Boomers losing, 79 – 39. It was a difficult day for our women with Bulleen shooting the lights out, including 9 3’s for the game. Kate Oliver was the standout for our Eagles with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. This week our SCW will be looking to causing a massive upset against the defending champions Hume City.
Our VYCM just fell short in an incredibly competitive first round final from start to finish against Melbourne, 71 – 67. It was a great effort from our boys almost stealing the game from the juggernaut Melbourne Tigers with a massive scoring run in the 4th quarter. The size of Melbourne proved to be the difference, scoring 36 points in the paint compared to our 20 points. Dylan Dunstan caught fire in the second half finishing with 14 points and 4 assists, Grant Turner also shot well finishing with 11 points. We are extremely proud of our VYCM and as it is their last game of the season we would like to thank everyone who is involved with our VYCM for their contribution and support throughout the season. We will be looking forward to see what next season brings.
