A small look at Broadford in 2017.
It has been a testing 2017 for the Broadford Football Netball Club on the field and on the court. The club was unable to field an A Grade netball team and an Under 18.5s football team.
The summer had the departure of coach Dean Helmers to the Mallee Eagles along with a number of key stars including Corey Viani, Matt Bulluss, Steven Boyall, Damien Barton, Ibrahim Atik, Rhys Smith, Josh Pound, Brodie Holland and Adrian Romanyk.
Talented ruckman James Philpot has taken on the reigns as head coach and after three rounds, wouldn't be overly disappointed with the results. A big first round loss to Rupertswood followed more competitive performances over Sunbury Kangaroos and Riddell in successive weeks.
The club has welcomed home Matt Coomans is a winner of the Matthews Medal; while Slade Creswell has also returned to Harley Hammond Reserve.
The Roos look to build some depth across its Seniors and Reserves this year while focusing on building towards a more successful 2018.
Rex Hickman has been a shining light already this season while recruit Nathan Lyons has done some handy things.
Josh Vilinskis and Pat Coppinger have been two stand-outs already, showing the strength in the club's younger players as it builds towards a stronger future.
