Executive Officer – Water Polo Victoria Inc.
Water Polo Victoria Incorporated (WPVI) is a not-for-profit State Sporting Association dedicated to the strategic growth of Water Polo in Victoria. WPVI values sport and physical recreation participation as an appropriate way of facilitating improved physical health and well-being. Our Mission Statement is:
“As a whole of life sport, Water Polo in Victoria is committed to becoming the premier water polo State, through growth, promotion and the sustainable pursuit of excellence with the provision to participate for all Victorian Communities”
WPVI is the governing body for approximately 26 affiliated clubs throughout metropolitan Melbourne and Victorian rural areas covering over 1,400 individual Members. WPVI is affiliated to Water Polo Australia Inc., the sport’s national governing body.
WPVI’s revenue is derived from three main sources:
- 1. Affiliation fees from member clubs;
- 2. Match fees from WPVI domestic competitions; and
- 3. Government Grants.
A Marketing and Sponsorship Committee has been established to generate revenue from other sources.
In addition to the Executive Officer, WPVI employs three staff including a full-time Sports Development Officer, a part-time Competitions Manager and a part-time Bookkeeper.
The Executive Officer reports to the Board which currently comprises ten Non-Executive Directors from a variety of professional backgrounds.
The Executive Officer is responsible for the operational management of the organisation. Key responsibilities include:
This is a high profile role within the Victorian and Australian Water Polo community and will appeal to an individual working within Sports Administration or wishing to transition from a corporate environment into a Sports Management career.
WPVI is located at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Albert Park, and strives to provide a dynamic and flexible work environment.
