The Summer Splash is Back in 2016!

18th January 2016

For all the Water Polo teams and players who just can't wait for competition to resume and want to play more Water Polo, we are putting on a Summer Social Competition for you!   The only requirement for players is to be registered with Water Polo Victoria.

Clubs and individuals are encouraged to put in teams with friends from their clubs or others. Individual expressions of interest will also be accepted to try and place individuals in a team or alternatively there may be a team of individuals depending on interest.

The competition will run on Wednesday nights for 7 weeks from the 10th of February through to the 23rd of March at Melbourne High. Games will be run as 3 x 8 min quarters, with the earliest game being 7:40pm and the latest at 9:25pm. Capacity is 8 teams - 4 men’s and 4 women’s.

Cost will be $700 per team (for a team of 10 players, this equates to $10 per week per person for 7 games of Water Polo). As this is a social competition the team payment must be received prior to the commencement of the second game.

One qualified refereed will be provided each week for all games and all teams will be expected to help by providing an additional referee for games either before or after their game.

Special rule - If any team gets 4 goals or more ahead they will be required to play with one less player. The team will be required to play with one less player each time their lead increases once above 4 goals. As soon as a lead is under 4 goals, teams will be able to have a full team in the water.

The WPV judiciary policy will apply for all games.

Entries and expressions of interest close on Wednesday the 3rd of February. Entry forms are attached for teams and for individuals.

All entries and individual expressions of interest to be emailed to

Any queries regarding this competition should be directed to Glen Piper ( or 0414 416 088).
