This award is part of WPV’s VicHealth female participation grant which is aimed at recognising the sports many unsung heroes whilst working towards creating a positive, inclusive and supportive environment that encourages growth and continued participation.

Our Heroes efforts have been noticed and are very much appreciated not only by the staff at WPV, but also by members of our community. No organisation stands alone and without their valued time and efforts, the sport would definitely be poorer for it. In no particular order, our Winners are:
- Perri Randall (NYP Dragons WPC)
- Lisa Asbury (Essendon WPC)
- Marlene Bloom (Volunteer)
- Carol Van Berkel (Bellarine Aquatic Centre Jnr. Water Polo Programs)
- Cathy Steere (Essendon WPC)

WPV would also like to make mention of the other notable women that were nominated for all of their past and present invaluable contributions to the sport. They are:
- Marilyn Webster
- Kaye Edwards
- Ness Wallace
- Elaine Henderson
- Carmal Hegarty
- Alli Van Ommen
- Jade Hanson
- Jo Grahame
- Charlotte Banks
- Bridget O’Regan
- Jane Banks
- Sue Mason
- Esther Banks

WPV highly recognises that its success and that of the sport is largely due to the invaluable support received from individuals like those mentioned above, who tirelessly offer their time, efforts and expertise for their love of the sport and care for its condition within the club, community and State.

To add, thank you to all who took the time to nominate a candidate so that we may justly identify and acknowledge our female heroes for the outstanding job they do or have done in the past.

Once again, to all of our commendable Unsung Female Club Hero Winners and Nominees for 2012, CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for all that you have done and do for water polo in Victoria. You admirably represent the many unsung heroes who dedicate themselves to enriching the sport we all love.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
