Changes to last season's WSL rules include
- the wearing of mouthguards by players wearing approvoed helmets to be highly recommended, but optional;
- breaking at a centre draw becomes an instant call
- the restraining line violation rule is unchanged in intent but has been renamed 'Offside'.
The most obvious change is that, as a trial in season 2013,
- Women's State League rules are being implemented in Divisions 1 and 2.
For players and umpires in Divisions 1 and 2, there are some major changes to the game rules including free movement (ie don't stop on the whistle); 1 minute penalties for major fouls; less players at the centre draw; and, instant offside and centre draw violation calls.
Please ensure these rule variations are thoroughly understood by your clubs' players and umpires so they are ready for the season.
Any queries on these rule variations should be directed to your club's WLC representative.
