Wolves are training hard for Group 10 season

TRAINING for the Lithgow Workmens Club Wolves has stepped up as the Group 10 rugby league season nears.

“More so this year, players have to be fit since the Group has brought in the 12 replacement rule with only four players to be used as replacements.

“Before, the unlimited replacement meant that you could go hard for five minutes and come off.

“Last year we won a lot of games in the back end of matches due to our fitness.

“We have a lot of players who can play long minutes which is always a plus for a coach.

“Under 18s and first division will be the same as last year with unlimited replacements.

“Premier League sides that are fit will benefit, especially in the early rounds of the competition and we will have to be fit with all the other sides stepping up to knock us over as the defending champions.”

The days are ticking by towards the Wolves’ first trial when they contest the Bathurst Knockout on March 15 and 16 followed by a trial at the Lithgow High School Oval against Helensburgh on March 23.

The first game of the Group 10 season for the Wolves will be against Mudgee at Mudgee on Sunday, April 7.

The Wolves also have training sessions of a morning on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am for those on shift work and are unable to attend the evening sessions.

The Oz Tag girls also train at these times and again persons wishing to play are welcome to attend training sessions.
