Inverell Saints Coach Mr. Darren Bailey faced the tribunal on 3 charges - 19.2.2(c) Using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire. 19.2.2(d) Behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire. 19.2.2(p) Any act of misconduct.
Mr. Bailey pleaded guilty to the first charge and not guilty to the second and third charges. After evidence being given the Tribunal found Mr. Bailey not guilty of the second charge but guilty of the third charge. Mr. Bailey was given a 2 match penalty for the first charge that he pleaded guilty and a 1 match penalty for being found guilty of the third charge. As per Country Energy Tamworth AFL By-Laws the penalties will be served consecutively.
The Tribunal was also informed that after an emergency meeting of players and then the Saints committee Mr. Bailey had resigned as Coach of the Inverell Saints.
The fourth charge involved Saints Co-Captain Christopher Whitton. Mr. Whitton faced 1 charge - 19.2.2(c) Using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire. After the evidence was given the Tribunal found Mr. Whitton had no case to answer and dismissed the charge.
