Game 1: Nomads v Kangaroos
After their huge win over a very undermanned Cats side last week that propelled the Nomads from second last on the ladder in round 1 to second they will be full of confidence for this week. The Rooboys will also be full of confidence too after getting one up on the Swans in the first round of the Billy Holder Cup. The Nomads look to have found another forward star in Simon Stubbs. And along with Westy and Modra the 3 of them kicked 15 of the Nomads 23 goals. Looking at their forward line now it may be one of the most potent in the league. The Rooboys bounced back well last week against their round 1 touch up by the Saints. Coach Cotter would have been very happy with the change but he does have a lot of young players in his charge and this is his big up up side for the future. It was also good to see Tassie Overeem back to his best kicking 6 goals.
Tip: The Nomads were the only team to beat the Rooboys last year and it just happened to be on the wide open spaces of their Bellevue Oval. Nomads by 23 points.
Game 2: Swans v Bulldogs
Last week was very disappointing for both the Swans and the Bullodgs. But while I knew the Bulldogs would lose I didn't think they would lose by 100 points. For me though the biggest disappointment of last week was the Swans loss. It wasn't that they lost it was the margin that they lost by. Maybe I was sucked in by the fact that they beat the Nomads in round 1 and combined with the fact that the great Rick Watt is back I was well and truley on the Swans bandwagon. I haven't jumped off the bandwagon yet but they would not want to repeat last weeks result to often. The Bulldogs put up a bold showing in round 1 against the Cats but were brought back to earth with a thud by the Saints. I think the Bulldogs will miss the finals this year for the first time in a little while but they will win games this year. And I think they will be dangerous at the end of the year and could shape the final 4.
Tip: The Swans need to win this one if they want to be serious about playing finals this year and I think they will by 29 points.
Game 3: Cats v Saints
The Cats will not be happy about last weeks result but if you can't take a full team away This type of result is going to happen more often then not. The Saints on the other hand while not having their strongest team were outstanding against the Bulldogs. The Saints have already set the competition alight being the only unbeaten team. They now have a 4 point break on the rest of the teams and with their massive percentage it is effectively a 8 point break on the rest. It was good to see that Stu McAdam was back for the Cats and his 4 goals was a good return. The Cats certainly have some good kids and to see that they travelled last week will only bold well for the future. The Saints line up this week will be interesting as their Captain and Coach were amognst some other notable Saints in Melbourne this week for the the big match between Collingwood and Essendon.
Tip: This could be a danger game for the Saints if they don't take the right attitude with them. But I think they will win by 35 points.
