Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League wishes to thank the newly formed Player Agents Association for their generosity and support in organizing a fundraising sportsman’s lunch on Friday 19th June, 2009. The function was held at Coogee Surf Club, and guests were entertained not only by host and President of the PAA Steve Gillis, but also by guest speakers Steve Roach, Ryan Girdler and Darrell Brohman.
The PAA is a newly formed association of the leading Player Agents in the game, and their involvement with schoolboys rugby league at all levels meant that they could see a need to assist the ASSRL to improve our financial position. They have made an ongoing commitment to assist us financially, and, again, we thank them sincerely for that.
Those who supported the function represented the gamut of those associated with the game – NRL, ARL, ARLD, NSWRL, NRL clubs, player agents, corporate supporters, media and schoolboy officials all attended, and a good time was had by all. We also thank all of these people for their support, both moral and financial.
ASSRL President Bruce Wallace assured the crowd when he addressed them that all funds raised at the function would be used to reduce the levy on players chosen to represent Australian Schoolboys this year when they play Great Britain Community Lions in Canberra and St Marys in August.
