Mixed Results in Grand Finals

15U Section 1 Grand Final

Dispite losing players to injury and illness, Mick Priestley lead the LYVNA 15U Team 1 to a fantastic end to the year by taking out the 15U Section 1 Grand Final against Waverley District 25-20.

After coming from behind in last weeks Semi Final, this week 15U-1 lead from start to finish.  They dominated in defence, ran harder through the centre court and were too strong in attack.  They won the first 3 quarters to pull out to a 9 goal lead late in the 3rd quarter.  The end result was a win by 5 but it flattered Waverley a bit as Waverley scored a few late goals in the dying minutes to close the margin.

Great game, great team, great coach.

U15 Team 2 goes down Yarra 39 - 30

LYVNA Team 2 lost in a fast free scoring game that provided a good spectacle for most of the game and really didn’t open up until the 5min mark of the last quarter.

Both teams came to play and there was a high level of intensity all over the court.

In the end we struggled with the size of the Yarra shooter and try as our girls did they were just outsized.

Even though we didn’t come home with a win I was proud of our efforts and level of attack on the ball and more than one person came up to me after the game and told me that they couldn’t believe the level of improvement amongst the team.

All in all we've had an amazing year and as we told the girls if someone had of told us at the start of the year how it would pan out you wouldn’t of believed it.
