BOMI Ralik Ratak Shootout sixth day results
In the women's bracket, Likiep played Arno and Jaluit took on Lae, while on the men's side, Namu played Majuro in BOMI 12th Ralik Ratak Shootout Invitational Basketball Tournament action in Majuro on Monday December 10, 2012.
Women's Team Arno roared out to a 37-7 halftime lead against Team Likiep and then coasted the rest of the way to a 52-30 victory over the outmatched Likiep team. Stacy 'Felol' Anmontha led Arno with nine points, while Eleni Duanacoko and Nene Wase scored eight each, and Tonet Langmos added seven. For Likiep, Frina Reiher scored 15 points and Carolyn Hone put in nine points. Arno improved its record to 3-1, with one game remaining in pool play, while Likiep fell to 0-2.
The Jaluit women's team struggled to score against a more experienced Lae team throughout the game, losing 38-20. Although Jaluit had many opportunities, most of their shots did not go in. Lyla Lemari scored 10 and Kandij Guavis added nine for Lae, which improved its record to 2-0. Marylou Louis scored 14 for Jaluit. Jaluit is 0-4.
The men's bracket featured another fast and furious, high-energy game between Namu and Majuro. Majuro led most of the game, holding a small halftime lead of 35-29. Majuro maintained its lead through the third quarter, but in the final 10 minutes of play Namu battled back to tie the game. The lead then changed hands several times as the clock wound down. Clutch shooting by Aichy Abner and Erick Kumtak, who scored Namu's final nine points, led Namu to the win 66-63. Aichy and Erick both scored 14 points, while Baybat Latrik added 10 and Anja Emos scored nine. For Majuro, Reynold M was high point man with 15, followed by Ueki with 14 and Winton who had nine. Namu is now 2-1, while Majuro is 0-2.
