Notice of Race
King of the Bay Regatta December 2-3 2017
Lauderdale Yacht Club Inc. invites sailors of off the beach dinghy and multihulls to the
King of the Bay Regatta 2017.
1. Organising Authority
The King of the Bay Regatta will be organised by the Lauderdale Yacht Club Inc. (LYC) under the authority of Lauderdale Yacht Club, Australian Sailing and World Sailing.
a) The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Prescriptions and Special Regulations of Australian Sailing, the rules as defined in the equipment Rules of Sailing and the Formula 18 Events Racing Rules, except if altered by this Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions.
b) 3 races shall constitute a series
c) The Low Point scoring system shall apply. If 5 to 8 races are completed 1 drop race will apply. If 9 or more races are completed 2 drops will apply
d) Rule 44.2 is changed so that the 720 deg turn is replaced by a 360 deg turn
Boats may be required to display bow numbers and advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority
4. Venue and Regatta Site:
The regatta will be hosted by the Lauderdale Yacht Club Inc. and sailed in the waters of Frederick Henry Bay in close proximity to LYC.
5. Eligibility and Entry
a) All boats shall carry public liability insurance to the value of at least AUD $10 million. All boats entered are deemed to carry this insurance and it is the skippers’ responsibility to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
b) All Skippers and crews shall be financial members of Australian Sailing
The series entry fee is:
$30 single handed dinghy /multihull
$40 Double handed dinghy / multihull
$50 Triple handed dinghy / multihull
7. Schedule of events:
There will be up to 8 races over 2 days:
Saturday 2nd December:
Registration 0800–1100 hrs
Sunday 3rd December:
Race Session 2 1000-1200hrs
Presentation – as soon as possible after racing
8. Sailing instructions will be available no later than the first day of registration.
9. Food: Lunches will be available inside the club.
10. Disclaimer of Liability:
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
