This year we are again running an online rostering system to sign up for race duties on the water and in the control tower. Racing members are expected to sign up for three shifts each so we can cover all duty slots for the season. Please ensure you read all the information below before signing up.
Duties include race control tower, jump crew, and driving the crash boat, rubber duckies and tractor. No licences are required to volunteer as crew on the crash boats or in the race control tower. You need a current marine license to drive the crash boats and a driver's license and specific training to drive the tractor. Crash boat crew must be able to jump to assist sailors in the water. A basic understanding of the race start sequence and flags is recommended.
WHO NEEDS TO SIGN UP?
All adult racing members are expected to sign up for 3 shifts. We also encourage junior sailors over 16 to think about signing up for some jump crew shifts or to drive the crash boat (if they hold a marine licence). They can also sign up to help out on the tower.
WHAT SHIFTS SHOULD YOU SIGN UP FOR?
In the past, we have really struggled to fill shifts outside the school holiday period. If you sail regularly before and after the school holidays, please fill those shifts first. Everyone else should put down at least 1 shift before and after the school holiday period. (Please let me know if you are unable to do this, eg. interstate resident, away during that time, etc). Please feel free to sign up to more than three shifts if you can.

For all those people concerned about their points towards the club championship, all participants score average points for that race they were on duty.
If you would like some training in how to run the tower/use a radio/ undertake a radio operators course, we have folk that can teach you. Just ask anyone on the sailing committee and we’ll get you sorted.

Enter in your basic details name, email and mobile and you’ll get a reminder about 5 days before your rostered shift. Unfortunately, once a shift is entered, only the roster administrator can alter it. Just send me an email and I will make any changes for you.

It takes many hands to ensure races are run safely and effectively and all the duties on the roster are required to be performed by someone. In the past, many jobs have fallen to just a few which impacts significantly on their participation in, and enjoyment of, club racing. Thanks in advance for helping out in this really critical function that ensures everyone gets a fair go on the water.
