420 day - Sunday January 31

We’re excited to confirm a visit to Merricks from some of the state’s leading 420 sailors will go ahead this Sunday, 31 January.  This is a terrific opportunity for our 420 sailors to extend on this summer’s sailing and to meet and learn from the visiting sailors ahead of the state titles to be held at Blairgowrie YS over the coming Labour Day weekend.  And for those families and sailors who are consider moving into a 420, this will be a great opportunity to pick up some first-hand tips on buying and sailing a boat.

The format is essentially the same as the Laser association event that we held successfully in early January – some off-water coaching and discussion sessions mixed in with a series of short races, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The schedule is for sailors to arrive and get rigging by 11:00, with some coaching and racing before and after lunch, aiming to finish, derig and depart by 16:00.  Can we also have a couple of volunteers to arrange a BBQ lunch (for approx. 40 people, to be covered by a small levy on the Merricks participants)?

It’s important that we get as many of our 420s on the water as possible, to make the most of the occasion – if need be sharing boats, crew or transport to achieve our strongest possible turnout.

Please contact Tom at rearcommodore@merricks.org if you’re able to participate or assist.  We look forward to seeing you on Sunday for another fun and enjoyable day’s sailing.
