GRSC 2018 Annual Presentation Night
Saturday May 19th 6.30pm for 7pm start
Sailing started at GRSC in 1926 with the club growing substantially in the ensuing years. The main sailing class for many years was 16ft skiffs, but a range of other classes such as VJs, Skates, Cherubs, Flying Ants, Herons, Manly Juniors and Sabots have sailed with the Club over the years. Today, we have active class sailing for Lasers, Tasars and Optis as well as a growing learn to sail program.
The Club has well developed sailing and support facilities including a large under cover boat storage shed co-located with its registered club on the lower Georges River at Sandringham a short distance from the superb open sailing waters of Botany Bay. The club is conveniently located approximately 15 minutes drive from Sydney airport and 30 minutes drive to the Sydney CBD. A bus service to the airport and CBD stops 100 meters from the Club.
The Club offers a range of facilities for members and guestts including a restaurant, snack bar, two coffee shops, bar and lounge areas as well as meeting and function facilities for up to 800 people. Shopping, restaurants, medical and other facilities are all close by, most within walking distance. For more details go to www.georgesriversailingclub.com.au
In addition to the sandy beach area in front of the Club, GRSC has a large grassed rigging area of approximately 4000 square meters adjacent to the Club. The grassed area has direct access to the beach and the water. Parking facilities around the Club will accommodate over 250 cars, 100 trailers & up to 10 shipping containers for teams coming from interstate and overseas for the Championships.
GRSC has successfully managed a range of regattas of comparable size and complexity with excellent feedback for both on and off water management. Some recent examples include:
