There is currently a strong need for experienced, mature, power boat instructors in Sydney. This gap is being increasingly filled by professional instructors who spend the Northern Hemisphere winter instructing in Australia.
If you hold an international Powerboat Instructor Qualifications you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning, in which you can undergo a direct assessment instead of attending a full Powerboat Instructor Course. You may also be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning for the Powerboat Handling Certificate if your current qualification includes a similar element.
You will still need to satisfy New South Wales boat licence requirements and the Apply First Aid before you can receive the Yachting Australia Qualification. RPL assessment days will be scheduled for the beginning of each Sydney summer and will be displayed on our upcoming courses page when confirmed. Alternatively, if you have a club or centre that is willing to employ you, you can elect to be assessed individually while delivering a lesson for them. Assessments can be booked in advance of your arrival in Australia so that your qualifications can be current as soon as possible while you are looking for work.
All assessments are $250 and include 12mths professional indemnity insurance ($110) dollars, and an introduction to the Yachting Australia Syllabus. Payment must be made by credit card at the time of booking.
