Learn to Sail
Christies Sailing Club, through the Mid-Coast Training Centre, is an Australian Sailing accredited training centre which offers a range of training programs for both young and adults. The basic training course is specifically designed as a fun experience that teaches beginner sailing skills. Many students progress to sailing in the larger trailer sailor fleet on Saturday afternoons, or choose to sail dinghies off the beach. Members are encouraged to sail our club dinghies from the beach, for both enjoyment or to race.
The cost of these courses is set to attract members and our friendly Australian Sailing accredited instructors are only to pleased to assist all in making learning to sail a fun and enoyable experience. Courses start from complete beginners where no experience is needed, and progress to a proficient level of sailing.
The adult beginners course is two full days, which are generally held on consecutive Sundays, but this is flexible. Adult courses are run according to demand, you can check the calendar page for upcoming courses or use the Contact Us form to register interest, and courses can be arranged to suit. We find a successful format for the courses is usually one instructor per student in a Pacer class dinghy.
The popular junior learn to sail courses are run on Saturday mornings in Spring and Summer and progress through to our regular advanced sailor coaching. For more details on junior courses and sailing refer to the Youth and Juniors page in the menu above.
