The competition will be run on Sunday afternoons at Gilbert Park, Knoxfield, and is open to any and all teams that would like some training and competition in the lead up to the June Masters. It has been a very successful competition / training event for the last few years, so we hope to see even more teams this year.

There will be a Men's competition, and a Women's competition. In general, players should be of Master's age, ie over 35 years of age. However, if teams are short of players on any particular week, then younger players are most welcome – lets get out there and PLAY !

Depending on the number of team entries, we may have to split the Women or Men's competition. Time and entry numbers will decide that.

The planned days for the competition are: 24th April, and the 1st, 15th and 29th May. This means that we start after Easter and the State Under Age Championships, and we finish before the June Long Weekend. It also means that we do not play on Mother's Day, which should please a lot of the mothers and fathers (and offspring). The plan is to play double headers each week to maximise the number of games, and minimise travel each week. Thus teams will play 2 games each week. (Team numbers allowing that !) Games will be played at 1.00 PM and 3.00 PM, and will be 1 hour 30 min long. (The usual "mercy" rules will apply if needed).

To cover KDSA and umpiring costs, a small charge of $ 5 per player per game is to be levied. This is to be collected by the team, (captain, coach, manager etc) and is payable to a KDSA official in the club rooms before the start of each game. Teams may choose to pay for both games before the start of the first game to minimise admin time.

It is also an opportunity for umpires to fine tune their skills. Teams are encouraged to have an umpire come along each day. These umpires will split the $ 50 per game allocated for umpires. If there is only 1 umpire on the game, then that umpire will receive $ 25. The games will be played to "flexible" rules, to allow the games to be about training and trying players in different positions, rather than strict softball games played to tight rules.

Teams are responsible for registering any new players with Softball Victoria. This would be at the "SV rate appropriate for Masters”, and will cover those players for the June Masters as well.

Please advise me ASAP of your team – male, female, and a contact person, etc via email to Graeme Young on, or call me on 0404 817 344.
